About This Service
Life Skills Development
We work with participants to build practical skills that increase independence in everyday life. That includes cooking and meal planning, managing money and budgets, navigating public transport, understanding personal safety, and developing the daily routines that make independent living sustainable. Training happens in your home and in your local community — the actual environments where you will use these skills — not a classroom. We set clear, measurable goals with you at the start and track progress honestly.

FAQ
Common questions about life skills.
Is life skills development funded under the NDIS?+
Yes. Life skills development falls under Capacity Building — Increased Social and Community Participation, or sometimes under Core Supports depending on your specific plan and goals. Your support coordinator can confirm which category applies to your plan.
What age group is life skills support suited for?+
We work with participants of all ages. Life skills support is particularly common for younger adults transitioning out of school, participants moving towards independent living, and people working to regain skills after an injury or health change.
How do you measure progress in life skills training?+
We set specific, practical goals with you before we start — things like preparing a full meal independently, managing a weekly budget, or completing a bus journey alone. Progress is tracked against these goals and reviewed regularly so you can see exactly how far you have come.
Can life skills training happen in my own home?+
Yes, and this is usually the best approach. Learning to cook in your own kitchen, navigate your local transport routes, and manage your household means you are practising in the environment where you will actually use the skills. We also work in the community where relevant.
