About This Service
Community Participation
We support participants to get out, connect with others, and pursue the activities that matter to them — attending a local sporting club, joining a community group, visiting friends or family, exploring a new hobby, volunteering, or simply getting to the shops. Our support workers accompany you and provide the level of assistance you need, from light support to active physical assistance. The activity is your choice. We make it possible.

FAQ
Common questions about community access.
What types of activities can I access with community participation support?+
Anything that interests you — sport, community groups, cultural events, volunteering, shopping trips, galleries, cafes, or visiting friends. We build your support around your interests and goals, not a fixed program. If you are not sure what you want to do yet, we can help you explore options.
Is community participation funded under NDIS?+
Yes. Community participation falls under Core Supports — Assistance with Social and Community Participation. You need funding in this category in your NDIS plan. Some participants also access it under Capacity Building depending on how their plan is structured.
Can I bring a friend or family member along?+
Absolutely. Our support workers are there to assist you, and if friends or family want to join an outing, that is completely fine. We focus on supporting your participation, not restricting who you spend time with.
Do your workers hold Working with Children Checks?+
Yes. All Hermitage Care support workers hold current NDIS Worker Screening Checks, and Working with Children Checks where required for the activities or environments involved.
